Wimbledon Finals-Roger Federer and Andy Roddick 2009

Andy Roddick did a great job at this years Wimbledon. He made Roger win 16 games in the 5th set to win the tournament. His serve held up until the last game. He has come along way and we, in america and his home in Palm Beach County wish him much success in the future. He may have been a bit disappointed but he has really showed himself and the world he can play with the best. Again congratulations Andy on a job well done. He will be ready for the upcoming US Open in the Big Apple, Ny at the end of August and the beginning of September. He ought to be a contender for the US Open held on hard courts.

Again, congratulations on the womans side to Venus and Serena, our home town girls. Serena looked really good. She played well and with the power game, she really had what it takes. Congratulations to them both. No. 1 and 2 at Wimbledon.

On the Doubles side, the Williams sisters dominated the Doubles. Good job. On the mens side, Daniel Nestor of Canada and Serbia and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia won the Doubles at Wimbledon this year beating the Bryan Brother USA in the finals. Five sets. Wow.

In Juniors,
Andrey Kuznetsov of Russia won the boys, beating American Jordan Cox of Duluth Georgia, in the final. Noppawan Lertcheewakarn of Thailand upset top-seeded Kristina Mladenovic of France to win the girls.

Happy 4th of July

Happy 4th of July everyone. Is not it great we have 3 Americans in the final of Wimbledon held in England. If it was not for our freedom we would still be ruled by the British. Yesterday we, Andy Roddick, USA, beat the Brits Andy Murray. It is going to be hard to topple the Swiss master, Federer. The Swiss watch is my favorite to win but hope Andy can come through. Andy has a great game. He can do it if he can stay the course in the points. Federer does not give up points very easily.
On the Womens side, Serena looked great as did her sister. Serena just had a bit more today. Congratulations to both our Palm Beach County Residents. They are special. It is really amazing that we have 2 women and 1 man from our country in the most prestigious tourney in the world in tennis. Now we need to produce a few more for our country in order to keep our freedom.

All the best,

Wimbledon has started

Hey folks,

Wimbledon has started. It goes from June 22nd - July 5th, 2009. Sharapova is out. Venus and Serena are still in it. Nadal of course did not compete this year at Wimbledon. Murray won the Queens, the warmup tournament for Wimbledon and may have a chance. Federer is the likely choice for the win on the mens side. We are about half way through the tournie. Grass is a very fast surface. Melanie Oudin 17 years old (USA) from Georgia beat No. 6 Jelena Jokovic. A great victory. We wish her the very best.

The new Roof of Center court has not been used yet but knowing the weather in England it will be. They built it in consideration of both rain and day light. No delays now and they can get the matches done. It was closed this morning and it will probably stay closed with Federer competing. It will be the first day it has been used. Good stuff.

Some other hard fought matches in the 3rd round -Svetlana Kuznetsova, the No5 seed, has been knocked out in the third round after losing 6-2, 7-5 to the 19-year-old German Sabine Lisicki.

Dinara Safin bt Kirsten Flipkens 7-5, 6-1

Caroline Wozniacki bt Anabel Medina Gerriques 6-2, 6-2

Sabine Lisicki bt Svetlana Kuznetsova 6-2, 7-5

Amélie Mauresmo bt Flavia Pennetta 7-5, 6-3

Caroline Wozniacki bt Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-2, 6-2.

Ana Ivanovic bt Samantha Stosur 7-5, 6-2.

Venus Williams bt Carla Suárez Navarro 6-0, 6-4.

On the mens side: The Guys who won are as follows:

Round 3: Andy Murray (3) def Viktor Troicki (30)
6-2 6-3 6-4

Round 3: Juan Carlos Ferrero def Fernando Gonzalez (10)
4-6 7-5 6-4 4-6 6-4
Round 3: Gilles Simon (8) def Victor Hanescu (31)
6-2 7-5 6-2

Andy Roddick advanced to the third round by beating Igor Kunitsyn 6-4, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2.

Lleyton Hewitt eliminated fifth-seeded Juan Martin del Potro of Argentina to reach the third round at Wimbledon. Watch the highlights at

French Open Finale

Hey Folks,

Dinara Safina (Rus) did not come through at the French. She did well in the tournament but could not keep up her intensity. The winner Svetlana Kuznetsova(Rus) did well with her win. They won over a million dollars as did the men.

Speaking of the men. Federer (Switz) did well or should I say Soldering (SWE) did not. He had looked very good up to this point and then not so good. Federer is having to drop out of his latest tourney due, he said, to the physicality of the French.

Sharapova looked good but did not survive. Hope her shoulder will heal completely. Our Williams girls had a good showing but could not come through. Better luck next time!

Wimbledon is coming up in less than a month. We shall see what happens. Roddick ought to have a chance. Hope his volley is up to the test! His approach looked alot better.

Well camp has started and we can always use more juniors. Contact us at tennis4utoo@gmail.com for more info.

In the next week or two I will begin to write about where to get tennis stuff in Palm Beach County. Thanks for reading.

All the best,

Coach Anderson

Nadal Loses to Soldering!

Hey French Open Fans,

Wow, Nadal lost against Soldering! This is quite an upset! He, Nadal won against Robin 6-0, 6-1 just last month in Rome. Today and 4 sets later Nadal- 6-2 6-7 (2-7) 6-4 7-6 (7-2) loss to Sweden's Robin Soderling is quite the upset. Davydenko caused something of a surprise to overcome eighth seed Fernando Verdasco 6-2 6-2 6-4. I guess the Spaniards were having an off day. Roger Federer, the swiss watch, is the favorite now! Federer is a great player who is working towards the history books.

On theWomens side, Maria Sharapova rallied again at the French Open on Sunday, moving into the quarterfinals by beating Li Na of China 4-6, 6-0, 6-4. She is looking good after her shoulder injury.

Of course a bit of drama with our local girl Serena. She is looking good at the French although I hope her health improves. Good luck!

Happy Hitting!

French Open Cont.

Wow. Fabrice Santoro of France has played in 20 consecutive French Opens. Longest Match 6 hours and 44 minutes. The most Grand Slam appearances so far. He is nicknamed the Magician. Look for his "stuff" in youtube. Watch his slice. Pretty amazing.

Well, We are in the 3rd round at the French. Hewitt is playing Nadal. Hewitt is playing well but Nadal of course, is the favorite. Sharapova is doing well beating Nadia Petrova 6-2. 1-6. 8-6. Good Job. The Williams Sisters will finish their match sometime today. Good luck for our home town girls! Andy Murray came from behind to win. Marat Safin lost. Dinara Safin is doing well. won 6-1, 6-1 against Vitalia Diatchenko from Russia. As time permits I will update.

The French Open Begins

Hey Fellow Tennis Enthusiasts,
Well The French Open started yesterday. Hewitt, whom I saw play about 12 years ago in Delray, was terrific. Karlovic threw 55 aces at him yesterday and Hewitt still prevailed. Pretty good, huh? Nadal has a chance to move ahead in the history books. He has done well so far! It is really awesome to see the Grand Slams. The French Open I have always liked because my first tournament as a kid was on Red Clay in Illinois. Safina is always in the running. She is a solid player but can miss at inoppertune times. Be interesting to see who wins Venus against Bethanie, Sharapova against Yakimova, or both. It will be a great tournament. Please send me your comments on the French Open and any other tennis topics. Thanks for your readership!
