Andy Murray wins the US Open Tennis Championship!

His coach Ivan Lendl has done a good job with Andy. Andy Murray won the Open in 5 sets against Novak Djokovic. The match took almost 5 hours. What a wonderful way to end the Open. An epic match. The final score was 7-6, 7-5, 2-6 ,3-6, 6-2 the 5 set match. It was not to be had since 1936 that England had won a Grand Slam Tournament. Both 25 years old. Novak said he did his best and Andy just outplayed him. Really humble and the words of Champions.  Wow.

Serena dispatched Azarenka in 3 sets 7-5 in the 3rd., We will see alot more of Azarenka. Although as I predicted it was close. Serena was playing wonderfully well throughout the tournament. Really great and close match. Congratulations to our home town, Serena Williams.

Berdych is looking good ! US Open Tennis Championships

Berdych is looking good against Andy Murray. Berdych has won the first set 7-5. They are in the start of the  second set and the wind is blowing considerably. Now is the beginning of the third set Murray has won the second set 6-2. This is a great match.
Berdych has had a great tournament and he has worked very hard. With the wind I believe he will be the favorite. Although Murray is winning the third set right now 3-0. We shall see.  Murray is playing smart right now. As I've said in previous posts, this has been a great US Open Tennis Championship. Berdych's win against the Swiss watch was some great play. Today will be the test for Berdych.
Again, as I stated in earlier posts Serena should be the favorite in the finals. She will play Azarenka and she, Serena, should win. Azarenka will put up a fight. She has had a good tournament up to now but Serena is playing amazingly well. It ought to be a great final. Thanks for reading. Coach Anderson
Update on earlier post; Murray is using the wind better than Berdych at this juncture. Murray has now won two sets to Berdych's 1. The are in the 4th set. Hope Berdych can adjust to the really difficult wind.

Ferrer looks good!

Mr. Ferrer (sp) is a winner on Day 11 of the US Open Tennis Championship. His 5 set win will pit him after his 4 hour 31 minutes match against Janko Tipsarevic against Mr. Andy Murray. Hope he can find the energy to give Mr. Murray a run for his money.

Serena Williams has not lost a set yet. She is definately the most likely to win the Woman's side of the open. Good luck to our local champion Serena!

Tonight Del Portro will play Djokovic. Djokovich is in my mind the favorite. Although Del Porto has been playing well!

Sorry to see our local Andy Roddick retire! He has really contributed a huge amount to the game of tennis. HIS exciting serve and amazing groundies earns him a spot in the greats of tennis. Thanks Andy for your dedication to the Great Sport of Tennis.

This has been a very exciting US Open Tennis Championship. Thanks to all the players for their dedication and effort! Coach Anderson

Quotes and a bit of history US Open Tennis Championships Style

US Open and induction to hall of fame!

Day 2 US Open. Ought to be no big upsets today. The William sister's ought to have an easy time of it today at the open. Venus is playing Bethanie Matek_ Sands. She is a very good player but when Venus is on, not too many woman can keep up. Helped her train about 9 years ago in Delray and she hit the ball a ton but her consistency is always a question. Want to wish Venus and Bethany a great match!
A couple of days ago Mr. Bolettieri was inducted into the Tennis Industry hall of fame. He at over 70 year's old was humble and informative. He said, a couple things that stand out. One is when he started his  academy (He has coached over 10 top 10 players in the world.) There were no where near the number of countries competing each year and each tournament for the prize money and prestige in the game. Now we have many more countries and sheer number of players has increased. This means we, the US, have alot more competition. The question becomes how willing are we, as a country, and then for each player individually  to work to be number one?
The other thing he mentioned to me when I asked Nick about Grips (Specifically the Eastern Forehand Grip) was we have to encourage our juniors to learn the semi-western grip.  Kids under 15 are traditionally having their bodies develop. The semi-western grip puts undue stress on kids joints and musculature. My solution is to teach traditional strokes, at least, in the beginning, and then once the student is used to the strokes introduce the more demanding grip-the semi-western grip, in line with what Nick suggested. In Tennis we need the whole package. All the grips, the spins, the different strokes and serves.Injuries plague our developing players. We need a sensible developmental process to avoid injuries and create winning players.  Finally, congratulations to Nick and his award. The tennis industry show was great and fun to attend. Lots of new gear and products. The US Open Tennis Championships was really exciting and fun to see! Good luck to all the players this year. Coach Anderson

Australian Open Day 11 Federer vs. Nadal Semi-Final, Maria Sharapova (No. 4) def. Petra Kvitova (No.2), and The Bryan Brothers in the Finals+Baby!

Australian Open Semifinals: Rafael Nadal def Roger Federer
Rafael Nadal (2) 6 6 7 6
Roger Federer (3) 7 2 6 4
It was a great Match. The first set was touch and go. Fed won it but not by much. The second Fed let it go. The Third set Nadal had the momemtum. Nadal was able to keep it in the Fourth winning 3 out of 5 sets. Rafa will meet the winner of the Novak Djokovic vs. Andy Murray semifinal. The Final ought to be pretty good depending on how much Murray puts up a fight.

Maria Sharapova No. 4 def. Petra Kvitova No. 2 (6-2, 3-6, 6-4)Their last meeting was at Wimbledon. Sharapova lost to Kvitova in that match. Sharapova looked good. The hope is Maria Sharapova can keep her cool and beat Azarenka in Australian Open Final 2012. Victoria Azarenka had three-set victory Thursday over Kim Clijsters. Victoria Azarenka will meet Maria Sharapova on Saturday Night in Australia for the finals. Mens is on Sunday.

Day 11 was Australian Day and is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, the date commemorates the arrival of the First Fleet at Sydney Cove in 1788 and the proclamation at that time of British sovereignty over the eastern seaboard of New Holland. Records date to 1808. Great Fireworks were set off during the Nadal / Federer match.

The Bryan Brothers have won and are in the Finals. Right up there Bob and Michelle Bryan are expecting a baby. Due date is the day of the Finals, Saturday Jan. 28th, 2012. They are going for their 12th Major Title. Go Bryans! Included is a baby shower video from ATP Video. Good Luck to the Bryan's (Bob and Michelle)!
