Men's Final US Open Tennis and Wrap Up

Kei Nishikori

Marin Cilic Croatia winning at The Open Finals

Interesting Match up in the Finals of The US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadow, NY on this September 9th, 2014. Kei Nishikori of Japan and Marin Cilic of Croatia meet to battle it out for the $3 Million Dollar first prize. Cilic is ahead and taken the  first set and second set 6-3, 6-3, Nishikori had a tough match against Djokovich and would think he is tired. Cilic win against Fed was ambitious too. Cilic had a bit more time to rest and this can make all the difference in this hot New York Grand Slam. The Fab Four Murray, Djokovich, Nadal, and Federer have been eliminated. They have done well these past  years but do not think it is time to write them off. They (Andy, Novak ,Rafael, and Roger)  have their hands full now that the younger foxes, are in the Hen house. Once they smell blood and have a taste they will be back for more. Cilic from Croatia looks like he will win against Kei in straight sets. None the less some good tennis.

Serena Williams wins the US Open 2014
6-3,6-3 against Woz

On the Women's side, Serena kept her ground and is knocking on the door of tennis greatness.  Caroline Wozniacki  faced off against Serena Williams.  Serena won, 6-3, 6-3 easily but not. Woz put forth a good effort but fell short with Serena's power and placement. Running Woz back and forth. Some great points.  Our own Serena will again bring home the $3 million in prize money and a place among the greats in the  sport of tennis. By winning Sunday, Williams, 32, matched Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova for fourth on the all-time list of Grand Slam winners (18), behind Margaret Court (24), Steffi Graf (22) and Helen Wills Moody (19). She also matches Evert with six U.S. Open titles in the Open era. Pretty awesome! Congrats, Serena...
Bryan Brothers (USA) win the 2014 US Open Tennis Championships!

Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina Win
As I wrote about Doubles, The Bryan Brothers won their 100th Professional Tournament title and 5 US Open Doubles Titles. Awesome. On the Women's side, Hingis and Pennetta, who started playing together lost to the Russian power houses. Hingis and Pennetta looked good in the matches up to the final but could not hold in the Final. They hit strongly and volleyed crisply in earlier matches but errors took their toll against the Russians- Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina. In the final two sets The Russian women were hitting with pace and through the team of Hingis and Pennetta. Final Scores: 2-6 6-3 6-2.  Each team takes home over 1/2 Million for the win in Doubles. Thanks for reading, Coach Anderson
