Stanislas Wawrinka(Stan) beats Novak Djokovic (Nole) Final French Open 2015

In an unprecedented French Open Final, Stanislas Wawrinka (Swiss) beats Novak Djokovic (Serbia) on this day June 7, 2015 in Roland Garros, Paris France. Stunning victory for the Swiss master. Nole played a phenomenal game but unlike his usual game had to play defensive! Stan's shots from both the forehand and backhand kept Nole from playing his usual aggressive game. Stanilas made 60 winners in this final. Amazing. Wawrinka serve and his return were impeccable. Not a chink in the armour. Took 4 sets but I do not think Nole had a chance. There were moments for the Joker but they were short lived. In the 3rd Set, the joker died. No fun but a heckuva shot.

Stanislas Backhand Winner down the line turns the tide

As we all know Novak Djokovich had to play Rafa Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal, then Andy Murray in the Semi-final and they were not easy matches. These kind of matches take their toll on players. Somewhat unreported is the amount of energy needed to keep on, keeping on. In the case of Novak my belief is when he needed to be at his best and highest he was a bit out of the energy needed. As I stated his energy was not enough to go on the offensive this day. Having said all that he still played quite well.  So the Swiss player Stan did his thing. He kept Nole from ever coming out of the gate. Unlike The triple crown winner, American Pharoah winner of the Belmont stakes yesterday, who kept the momentum and the energy to play to win a place in the history books.

What is on the horizon, we cannot tell. Wimbledon is around the corner and Nole did not get his Grand Slam. This was Stanislas 2nd Grand Slam Title. He wins Almost $2 million dollars (1.96). As does our local lady Serena Williams. The American beat Lucie Safarova 6-3 6-7 (2) 6-2 for a resounding 20th Major. She will probably overtake Steffi Graf for the record of 22 Majors. Safarova played some great tennis. Serena was overcome by flu and she rebounded. Very tough. Go ladies. Congratulations to all the contestants in the French. Great Tennis!

French Open Final 2015 in Quarterfinals Novak Djokovich vs. Rafael Nadal!

Last Year 2014 the Finals French Open Headline was:

"Rafael Nadal (Rafa) Beats Novak Djokovic (The Joker) For Ninth French Open Win! "

This year is a bit different. Rafa and The Joker will face each other tomorrow at The French Open. Coverage will begin in the morning June 3rd at 8 am Eastern Standard Time on ESPN2. This to me is as big as the finals. Hate to say this as I am rooting for Rafa, Novak will be favored. Novak has not lost in quite some time (26 consecutive matches won). Rafa on the other hand is meeting Djokovich because he has fallen in the mens ATP standings. Nadal is ranked 7th. They have met 6 times and this will be their 7th meeting. Novak Djokovich is ranked No. 1. The Joker is the favorite even though Nadal has won the French nine times. This match is one of the highlights of the 2015 French Open. Nadal is not happy about having to meet him now but as they say Life on Life's Terms. Good Luck Gentlemen!

2008 French Open Winner Anna Ivanovic

On the Womens side, Anna Ivanovic beat Elina Svitolina 6-3 6-2 on a windy day with ease.

She will meet Lucie Safarova (CZE) for a place in the semifinal after the Czech beat Garbine Muguruza 7-6 (7-3) 6-3.
Lucie Safarova LH
Left Handed

Ivanovic won the French Open in 2008. Anna with her extreme Semi Western is striking the ball well. Safarova is an accomplished player ranked 13. Anna is ranked No. 7. Her boyfriend was there to cheer her on...

There is going to be a good match when Ivanovic meets Safarova. Good Luck Ladies!

Delray Beach Open February 19, 2015 Sponsored by The Venetian Fun!

Went down to the Delray Open Sponsored by The Venetian at The Delray Tennis Center in Delray Beach, FL. The Tournament is a week long Runs from February 13-18th which is a Sunday. Prize money of $500,000. Singles winner Marin Cilic Beat Kevin Anderson last year. The winner of the tourney earned approximately $85,000 and runner up $44,500.00 for singles. On the Doubles side the winners earned will be approximately 28,000.00. This is a combined event of The ATP CHAMPIONS TOUR which consists of past tennis greats (This event has already been played and the results are Team USA 3 | Team INT’L 6), and An ATP WORLD TOUR EVENT which consists of present tennis greats.

The ATP WORLD TOUR EVENT consists of many in the top 20 in the world and is being played presently. KEVIN ANDERSON (RSA) is the No. 1 seed. He is ranked 15 in the world and is from South Africa. Ought to be fun to see who comes out on top in Singles. Yen-Hsun Lu of Taipei 7-6 (6), 6-3 beat him last night and marks the first time since 2006 that the top 2 seeds are out of the running. There are many Americans' vying in this tourney and encourage any local readers to attend. http://www.yellowtennisball.com/ will give you the schedule, price of tickets and field playing this week. Very Exciting....

The Bryan Brothers (USA) defeated the duo of Dustin Brown (Dusty (Ger)) and Adrian Mannarino (Fr) in straight sets 6-3, 7-5 in their first round match Wednesday.

Was there yesterday and the challengers looked good. The Bryan Brothers who have won over 11 million in their career had to struggle in Center Stadium in Delray Beach Tennis Center in Delray Beach, FL to win even though they beat them in straight sets. Bob Bryan hit an amazing trick shot at the net. A half volley behind the back that was slammed at him near the net.  Here is the link: http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2015/02/7/Delray-Beach-Wednesday-Bryans-Hot-Shot.aspx#ooid=BzYXRnczqFX6mlBPDaEtB3B9ze2S3kKF  . One of the most amazing shots of the year. Watch this! They are favored in Doubles but will have a tough time with the ever tough team of Raven Klaasen (RSA) / Leander Paes (IND). But as I wrote earlier in this article it is anyone's tournament.

Men's Final US Open Tennis and Wrap Up

Kei Nishikori

Marin Cilic Croatia winning at The Open Finals

Interesting Match up in the Finals of The US Open Tennis Championships in Flushing Meadow, NY on this September 9th, 2014. Kei Nishikori of Japan and Marin Cilic of Croatia meet to battle it out for the $3 Million Dollar first prize. Cilic is ahead and taken the  first set and second set 6-3, 6-3, Nishikori had a tough match against Djokovich and would think he is tired. Cilic win against Fed was ambitious too. Cilic had a bit more time to rest and this can make all the difference in this hot New York Grand Slam. The Fab Four Murray, Djokovich, Nadal, and Federer have been eliminated. They have done well these past  years but do not think it is time to write them off. They (Andy, Novak ,Rafael, and Roger)  have their hands full now that the younger foxes, are in the Hen house. Once they smell blood and have a taste they will be back for more. Cilic from Croatia looks like he will win against Kei in straight sets. None the less some good tennis.

Serena Williams wins the US Open 2014
6-3,6-3 against Woz

On the Women's side, Serena kept her ground and is knocking on the door of tennis greatness.  Caroline Wozniacki  faced off against Serena Williams.  Serena won, 6-3, 6-3 easily but not. Woz put forth a good effort but fell short with Serena's power and placement. Running Woz back and forth. Some great points.  Our own Serena will again bring home the $3 million in prize money and a place among the greats in the  sport of tennis. By winning Sunday, Williams, 32, matched Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova for fourth on the all-time list of Grand Slam winners (18), behind Margaret Court (24), Steffi Graf (22) and Helen Wills Moody (19). She also matches Evert with six U.S. Open titles in the Open era. Pretty awesome! Congrats, Serena...
Bryan Brothers (USA) win the 2014 US Open Tennis Championships!

Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina Win
As I wrote about Doubles, The Bryan Brothers won their 100th Professional Tournament title and 5 US Open Doubles Titles. Awesome. On the Women's side, Hingis and Pennetta, who started playing together lost to the Russian power houses. Hingis and Pennetta looked good in the matches up to the final but could not hold in the Final. They hit strongly and volleyed crisply in earlier matches but errors took their toll against the Russians- Ekaterina Makarova/Elena Vesnina. In the final two sets The Russian women were hitting with pace and through the team of Hingis and Pennetta. Final Scores: 2-6 6-3 6-2.  Each team takes home over 1/2 Million for the win in Doubles. Bryan Brothers Win 100th Tournament Title-16th Grand Slam Title- Tie to Bob Lutz and Stan Smith-Win 5 US Open Tennis Championships

Bob and Mike holding the cup at The US Open Doubles Championship
in New York City. 5 US Open wins. 100th Tournament Title.

NEW YORK (AP) - Bob and Mike Bryan (USA) won a record-tying fifth U.S. Open doubles championship Sunday for their 100th tournament title.
The top-ranked twins beat 11th-seeded Spaniards Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 6-3, 6-4.
The Bryans matched Richard Sears and James Dwight, who won the men's doubles five times way back in the 1880s. They now own the Open-era mark, moving ahead of Bob Lutz and Stan Smith. This is their 5th US Open Doubles Title!
It's the Bryan brothers' 16th Grand Slam title, extending their record.
"We're not stopping anytime soon," Mike Bryan said in an on-court interview.
But it's their first since 2013 Wimbledon. They were in danger of finishing a year without a major championship for the first time since 2004. They will be competing at the  Delray Open, Delray Beach, FL.  in February. Hope to see you there.
Back at their home Grand Slam event, the 36-year-old Americans ended the drought. They were so excited they botched their signature chest bump, with Mike leaping into Bob's arms.
"We had home-court advantage," Bob Bryan said.
After a tough three-set victories in their past two matches, they controlled play against Granollers and Lopez, who beat them in the French Open quarterfinals en route to their first Grand Slam final.

Their record may never be beat. Double is a specialty only very few have the ability to stay at the top this long and of course the Bryan Brother are the only ones to have this record. God Bless. thanks for reading, Coach Anderson

US Open American Tennis ,Semi Finals, and The Big Apple

US Open 2014 Bryan Brothers 100th Doubles Title: Take on American Dominance 9.4.2014

There was an article a couple of weeks back in The Daily Beast reference our decline in American Tennis. It did not mention our very own Bryan Brothers (USA), who have not had a good year in their 2014 doubles. This can change in this New York Moment.  Contrary to this year, They have had more Grand Slams in Doubles than anyone up to this point in the history of tennis. In fact, this year at the US Open they are going for their 100th Title at a Major (French, Australian, US Opens, and Wimbledon), and have a good chance of succeeding even though they have not had a good year. The article was mainly about Serena Williams as the last great American Tennis player. She is the fav this year at the Open. Of course, we have been the country to beat and dominated tennis until the 80's. It became a World sport and countries saw, especially small countries could be dominant on the world scene with just some hard work. In other words, they can have a place on the world stage and be a relatively small country. There are many examples of this in sports but tennis is fairly high profile. Pretty cool for world acceptance and participation. Plus a Good payday for the victor, $3,000,000 for the singles on either the men's or women's side and One half a mil for the doubles at this years Open.  They can shine. So what about us, the US?

On the Doubles scene, The Bryan Brother  ought to win this year but it is not in the bag. 100 professional tournaments won. The Brothers are playing two other americans this morning Scott Lipsky USA and Rajeev Ram USA. The Serena Sisters who play doubles at most majors have already lost. The Doubles team of Kimiko Date-Krumm (JPN) B.Zahlavova Strycova (CZE) just won and will play Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) [4] Elena Vesnina (RUS) [4] today and  then later in the day the match of  Martina Hingis (SUI) Flavia Pennetta (ITA)  playing Cara Black (ZIM) [3] Sania Mirza (IND) [3]. If Martina Hingis wins it will be a big deal. A must watch if Hingis gets into the finals. It could happen. If you live in South Florida the Bryan Brother will be attending and playing  in the Delray Beach Open at The Delray Tennis Center Feb. 13-15, 2015.

Andy Murray, left, with Djokovic after the match. “We both gave our best,” Djokovic said.CreditBarton Silverman/The New York Times

In Men's singles, Andy Murray put a up an audacious fight against the Joker last night. His Forehands were other worldly but it looked as if Mr. Murray was injured. They had spectacular rallies but eventually Novak got the better of Mr. Murray.  He lost in 4 sets N.Djokovic (SRB) [1] 77 61 6 6 MATCH COMPLETED  A.Murray (GBR) [8] 61 772 4 Two Tie breakers in the first and second sets showed the fight Andy had in him. Of course he hung on but it was evident when Andy had to move he was in pain. Especially in the final 4th set.
Coming up in Men's singles Fed (Sui) will play Monfils (Fr) who is looking better than he has in quite some time. Roger is playing excellently so my bet is on The Swiss watch. This morning Tomas Berdych (CZE) [6]
vs. Marin Cilic (CRO) [14]. Berdych ought to win but anything can happen.

Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki celebrates her victory over Sara Errani in the quarter-finals of the US Open. Photograph: Jason O'Brien/Action Images

On Women's side in singles, C.Wozniacki DEN won easilty against Sara Errani ITA 6-0, 6-1. Upcoming in the Semi finals is Serena Williams (USA) [1] vs. Ekaterina Makarova (RUS) [17]  and Shuai Peng (CHN)   vs. Caroline Wozniacki (DEN) [10]. Caroline is playing like a tiger. When she played Maria Sharapova who hits the ball a ton, she outhit and outpowered her. Very Interesting. Of course they have talked ad infinitum about  McIlroy winning and commitment to Golf after breaking it off with Caroline. The other side is Caroline Woz is doing much better now that she has left Rory. She smiles more, looks more fit, and is winning. She has a real chance. She lost to Serena in Cincy (Cincinati Open warm up for the US Open). Having seen some of the match it is one professionals thoughts that Woz will be in the hunt for the Open title. She kept up with Serena well. Made her work for it. Serena has the best chance but Woz may upset the apple cart.  It is getting exciting at the Open in New York. As we know anything can and does happen. Stay tuned....Thanks for reading Coach Anderson September 4th, 2014
