Wimbledon Turning Point!

Novak Djokovic is No. 1.

With his 7-6 (4), 6-2, 6-7 (9), 6-3 victory over Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semifinals of Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic will reach No. 1 for the first time when the new rankings are released on Monday. Djokovic, who is 47-1 this season, takes over from Rafael Nadal, who held the spot for 56 weeks. It was the second time in Nadal's career he reached No. 1.. Nadal is playing some great tennis. Probably not enough to overcome Djokovic. Upsets do happen.

Maria Sharapova, 24, says that she doubts she’ll play until the age of 30. Sharapova, who will play Petra Kvitova in the Wimbledon final on Saturday, says that had she not taken up the sport, she might now be finishing university and pursuing a career in architecture. This is the first final in quite some time. Petra Kvitova is a Lefty. Kvitova is the first left-handed woman to reach the Wimbledon final since Martina Navratilova in 1994. Lefties have some advantages if they use them. Maria will have to be more consistent with her serve to beat Petra. Good Luck Ladies.

Wimbledon is talking about adding a covered roof on Court 1. It will keep play moving and help the business of tennis. Could happen. Really good tennis this year at Wimbledon. Happy Tennis to all! Coach Anderson
